Chickpeas Recipe
This recipe is carefully crafted to be used easily with Cooking with Amma Chickpeas Spice Mix
What You Need
- Either
1 packet of Chickpeas Spice Mix (included in Cooking with Amma Chickpeas Spice Mix packaging)
-or-
1.5 tsp. Chickpeas Spice Mix (included in Cooking with Amma Chickpeas Spice Mix glass jar) - Either
1 packet of Cumin Seeds+Hing Spice Mix(included in Cooking with Amma Chickpeas Spice Mix packaging)
-or-
1 tsp. Cumin Seeds+Hing Spice Mix (included in Cooking with Amma Chickpeas Spice Mix glass jar packaging) - Water
- 1 cup. dried chickpeas or 2 cans of rinsed canned chickpeas
- 1 chopped medium onion
- 1 tbsp. butter
- 2 pureed Roma tomatoes
- 1 tsp. chopped fresh ginger
- Fresh coriander garnish
Directions
- Wash 1 cup. of dried chickpeas. If the chickpeas are dried, soak the dried chickpeas in water for 8 hours.
- Rinse the soaked chickpeas, and boil the chickpeas in at least 2 inches of water over the chickpeas. Bring the water to a boil, and simmer for about 40 minutes (until the chickpeas are soft).
- Sauté on medium heat 1 medium chopped onion, 1 Cumin Seeds+Hing Spice Mix packet or 1 tsp. Cumin Seeds+Hing Spice Mix from glass jar packaging in 1 tbsp. of butter, until onions are pink, about 2 minutes.
- Add 2 pureed Roma tomatoes and 1 tsp. of chopped fresh ginger, and sauté for 3 minutes.
- Add 1 Chickpeas Spice Mix packet or 1.5 tsp. of Chickpeas Spice Mix from glass jar packaging, and add the cooked or canned chickpeas (already rinsed). Cook covered on medium heat for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Add freshly chopped coriander leaves, tomatoes, and onion and serve on rice.
